Welcome to The TomKat Ranch
The TomKat Ranch property was purchased in 1998 and consists of 11.5 contiguous acres, a log homestead built in the late 1880's, and several outbuildings built during the following 50 years.
The land of TomKat Ranch is divided between several vegetable, flower and herb gardens, each small and manageable, an apiary with thriving colonies of Russian and Carnolian bees and 2 mobile Chicken Coops housing a small variety of naturally fed egg laying Chickens. The remaining acreage is pasture and wooded hillsides that are home to a small and growing herd of Kiko goats.
Tom Denny–Owner, Farmer, Rancher, Beekeeper, Chef
The TomKat Ranch began—in theory—in 1994 when Tom Denny moved to Cedar Hill Missouri and rented a log cabin on the JB Ranch. Newly divorced, 34 years old, and just starting a new career in the wine business as an On-Premise Wine Representative in St. Louis. Tom instantly fell in love with the country life the JB Ranch offered and drove to the city daily to sell wine. Prior to the wine business, Tom lived in St. Louis working his way thru the restaurant business. He opened several full service operations for a variety of ownerships and corporations culminating in a partnership with his brother Rich at The Filmore Diner ("Excitement, Romance, Chicken") as well as a three-year stay as the Assistant Food & Beverage Director at the Old St. Louis Arena. Tom left his 13 year career in wine as the On-Premise Sales Manager with several educational certifications from various aspects of wine production as well an in depth knowledge of the production of spirits.
Tom's culmination of past knowledge, expertise of his craft, and new interests and endeavors started the true beginning of The TomKat Ranch. Today, the staff and ownership consist of Tom Denny, his children and a few seasoned service industry veterans. We have an Anatolian shepherd who protects the goats, two very adventurous shelter rescue dogs and a cat or two (they own the joint).
